What is the course duration for MBBS in Ternopil State Medical University

The Medical course of MD (Doctor of Medicine) or MBBS takes six years and follows a proposed program ECTS. From the first to the fifth year students doing MBBS in Ukraine study according to unified schedules and programs with the specialization in the sixth year.

What is ECTS for MBBS in Ternopil State Medical University?

In the undergraduate program, during six years of study of MBBS in Ukraine, the students learn different subjects from fundamental subjects disciplines to special medical subjects and hence progresses towards developing new avenues in healthcare excellence. The schedule of study process in Ternopil State Medical University from 1st till 6th year consists of two study semesters. The practical training is included into 360 credits and is conducted during the study year.

Subjects: microbiology, virology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, hygiene and ecology, propaedeutic of internal medicine and paediatrics, radiology, etc.

An average number of academic hours per week: 283 classroom hours and 162 classroom hours.

Practical hours: 884

Nursing – on the 3rd year (2 weeks in 6th semester in hospitals)

Duration: 40 weeks

Subjects: Internal medicine, paediatric, tuberculosis, surgery, biostatics, urology, medical psychology, narcology etc

Total ECTS credits: 63.1

An average number of academic hours per week: 329 classroom hours and 141 individual student work hours.

Practical hours: 1010

Clinical practice credits: 6

Duration: 40 weeks

Subjects: Internal medicine, Epidemiology, Oncology, paediatrics, surgery, traumatology, medical genetics, orthopaedics, gynaecology, neurosurgery, dissection course, etc.

Total credit ECTS: 60

Average number of academic hours per week: 300 classroom hours and 143 individual student work hours

Practical hours: 982

Clinical practice credits: 6

NOTE :

In this schedule it is expected the additional time for completing the study of separate modules (their re-passing, increase of the rating, etc.) – 2 weeks after completing the spring semester on 1-5 years. In between this time after the 3rd year is planned the passing of an integral exam.

The successful students doing MBBS in University will complete study of five years, then on graduation work for another year under probation in order to gain general registration.

Total credit hours: 60

An average number of academic hours per week: 283 classroom hours and 167 individual student work hours.

In the 12th semester in the 6th year in addition to students study, the preparation for state attestation and its conducting are foreseen.

What are the accommodation facilities in the Ternopil State Medical University?

The Ternopil State Medical University hostels consist of 3 dormitories each well furnished with all the required amenities such as 24-hours internet access, laundry, spacious dining hall, cafe, gym, library, study halls, health centre etc. for students doing MBBS in Ukraine.

 

The dormitory No.1 is mostly occupied by international students. The dormitory has 206 rooms and a total housing capacity of 508 persons. Each floor of the dormitory has 3 living wings. There are 3 suites, a common room, a kitchen with essential equipment and a utility room in each wing. The suit contains 2 double occupancy rooms and 2 triple occupancy rooms, a toilet and a shower.

The second dormitory of the Ternopil State Medical University hostels is located adjacent to the City bus station. Ukrainian and international students and student families live there. The dormitory has 224 rooms and a total housing capacity of 549 persons. Each floor of the dormitory has 3 wings. There are 3 suites, a common room, a kitchen and a utility room in each wing. The dormitory No.3 is adjacent to Ternopil Regional Hospital. It is very convenient because the 3rd-6th-year students of the Ternopil State Medical University have their classes there. The dormitory consists of 97 quadruple occupancy rooms and total housing capacity of 388 persons.
