Spartan Health Science University, School of Medicine, follows a trimester system with classes starting in January, May and September. Typically school starts on the first Monday of these months. SHSU has a rolling admissions system. Students may apply for admission to the program at any time throughout the year. Early applications are encouraged.
Eligibility Criteria for India Students who wish to return & practise medicine in India after obtaining degree from SHSU :-
For 5 year integrated MD Program :-
Eligibility Certificate from MCI
- Aggregate 50% marks in Physics Chemistry & Biology (Theory+ Practical) in 10+2 Level for General category students
- Aggregate 45% marks in Physics Chemistry & Biology (Theory+ Practical) in 10+2 Level for OBC category students
- Aggregate 40% marks in Physics Chemistry & Biology (Theory+ Practical) in 10+2 Level for ST/SC category students
- 10+2 must be passed from any recognized Board/ Council of India or abroad with English as compulsory subject.
- Age of the student should be 17 years.
For 4 year MD Program :-
The minimum requirement for admission is 90 semester credit hours of college or University level studies (3 years). However, a baccalaureate degree is preferred and it is required of students coming from countries other than the United States and Canada.
The Admissions Committee has no preferences for an undergraduate major. However, college and university studies should include:
General Biology with Laboratory (1 year)
General Physics with Laboratory (1 year)
General Chemistry with Laboratory (1 year)
Organic Chemistry with Laboratory; (1 year)
Or Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry sequence is acceptable
Mathematics (1 year)
The above courses must be taken at a minimum of Freshman College or University level.

At least two letters of recommendation from academic or professional sources
For Transfer Students
Students from recognized medical school may be admitted as transfer students upon evaluation of their credentials. However, evidence of non-monetary commitment to their previous medical schools must be demonstrated.
The Admission Committee of the University shall review all candidates’ applications before admission.
Spartan University considers students up to the first year of the medical program i.e. first and second trimester.
Transfer students may be affected in terms of class time, availability of seats and special scheduling.
A transfer student on financial aid who wants to continue receiving those funds must re-apply upon matriculation.
Transferring Applicants Criteria
Submit application for admission with official Academic transcripts from previous medical school and pay appropriate fee with the required documentation.
Meet admission requirements as individuals applying for admission into the medical program for the first time
Must be transferring from an accredited institution recognized by the state and official entity.
Any applicant who has been detached from the medical education program for more than five years will not be allowed any credit for course work done previously. Such applicants will be considered for admission into the First Trimester only.
Post Acceptance Process :-
Reserving your spot after acceptance
Successful applicants, following notification of acceptance by mail, are expected to sign an offer of acceptance form and return it to the University within 7 days along with the seat deposit of 1000 US$ (Credited towards first year tuition)
Upon receipt of confirmation of enrolment, Letter of Admission & an Orientation packet that includes vital information to help with your move to St. Lucia will be mailed to you.
Please retain your original admissions letter to present before St. Lucian Immigration and Customs upon arrival at UVF Airport
We also arrange online orientation sessions with SHSU Student Counsellor prior to your departure to get you acquainted with your fellow class mates and your living arrangements in addition to personal orientation at our office in Ahmedabad.
